Tell us something about yourself. Who are you as a person? What are your likes and dislikes?

My name is Somrita, and I live in Bangalore. I have been working in the IT industry for the last eight years, and I love travelling to new places, trying different cuisines and food and beverages.

 

When were you first bitten by the writer’s bug? Who or what inspired you to take up writing?

I started writing short stories and quotes in 2018. Previously, I have written numerous articles in schools and colleges. My love for words, writing as a medium to curb out pains and troubles has been inspiring throughout also the support of my family towards my efforts.

 

What do you do, and how has it influenced your poetry? 

I usually write stories; I am planning to write my novel in the coming times.

 

As an author, where do you see yourself five years from now?

I see I have written my novel, published and appreciated by my fellow writers and friends.

 

How do you face Writers’ Block? What motivates you to keep writing?

My passion and my dreams motivate me.

 

How has writing built you?

I have got a better grasp of vocabulary, strong imagination of plots and characters.

 

What are your Achievements? Awards, if any? 

I have been writing for a publishing house StoryMirror since 2018 and have achieved various certifications and badges for writing. Also have won many awards in schools and newspaper agencies for writing in their columns during school times.

 I have also participated in two anthologies as a co-author in 2021 for Noel Lorenz House of Fiction.

 

Tell us a bit about how much time you spend in a day on writing. Are you a disciplined writer or a spontaneous one?

  I am usually a spontaneous writer. I write when I picture drafts in my mind.

 

Are you a reader yourself? What are some of your favorite books?

Yes. The Alchemist, Heidi, Ikigai, The Kite Runner.

 

Reading in the mountains or reading on the beach?

Reading in the mountains.

Any new projects that you are currently working on?

Working on the last stages of my first book for publication from Story Mirror

 

When did you write your first book/poem, and how old were you?

At school for a newspaper column, in the children’s section.

 

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Cooking, painting or reading books.

 

What does your family think of your writing?

They support me totally and bond with me very well.
